A Father’s Love
I just want to take a few moments on this gorgeous Friday afternoon and share something with you. I know for some of you it is very difficult to look to God as a Father, your Father. Your Father wants what is best for you. He loves you so much. However, He is not going to push Himself on you. He will wait. And my dear one, He will wait as long as it takes for you to come back, wrecked and broken over the sins that have kept you from seeking all that He has for you. Because see, it is not really about what you have done or have not done. He loves you because that is who He is. He is love. He is for you. He is not against you. Yes, there are consequences for sin. Even while you are dealing with the consequences of your sin, God your Father still loves you. He will never abandon you. Ever. He desires to have an everlasting relationship with Him. So, wherever you are, whatever you have done – come home. He is waiting. Enjoy this letter I found from a Father to his child.
My Dear Child,
I just had to send you a note to tell you how much I love you and care about you. I saw you yesterday as you were walking with your friends. I waited all day long hoping you would want to talk with me also. As evening drew near, I gave you a sunset to close your day and a cool breeze to rest you. I waited; but you never came. It hurt me, but I still love you because I am your friend.
I saw you fall asleep last night and I longed to touch your brow. So, I spilled moonlight on your pillow and your face. Again I waited, wanting to rush down so we could talk. I have so many gifts for you, but you awakened late the next day and rushed off to work. My tears were the rain.
Today you looked so sad; so all alone, it makes my heart ache because I understand. My friends let me down and hurt me so many times too, but I love you. Oh, if you would only listen to me. I really love you. I try to tell you in the blue sky and in the quiet, green grass. I whisper in the leaves on the trees and breathe it in the colors of the flowers. I shout it to you in the mountain streams and give the birds love songs to sing. I clothe you with warm sunshine and perfume the air with nature’s scents. My love for you is deeper than the oceans and bigger than the biggest want or need in your heart.
I created you so we could love each other. Since sin was the only thing separating us, I sent Jesus my Son to die for you, so your sins would be forgiven and then we could build our relationship together. It seems, once your sins were forgiven, you stopped coming to me. Child, I want to be your Father. If you only knew how much I want to help you. Just call me, ask me, and talk with me. I have so much to share with you, but I won’t hassle you. I will wait, because I love you.
Your Daddy,
God
